MySQL, available in both UNIX and Windows, is one of the most popular database tools. As the latest version of MySQL, the perfected newer version, MySQL 5.0, provides you with many new features in this popular open source database server. It is incredibly fast, reliable, and easy to use for developers.

WHAT ARE THE NEW FEATURES?

To summarize, it is very simple and easy that MySQL 5.0 has added 4 great new features – trigger, views, data dictionary, and stored procedures. But of course it is not enough to just say those 4 words to describe how outstanding the features are. So, let’s not waste more time and know nothing by getting more!

Trigger

A database trigger is procedural codes that can be executed automatically to respond certain events on database particular tables. It is able to restrict access to specific data, perform logging, or audit data modifications. For the triggers, there are “row triggers” or “statement triggers”.

Row triggers is the action for every row of a table while statement triggers only happens once per INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statement. And these statement triggers are those that MySQL Database support – INSERT Trigger, UPDATE Trigger, and DELETE Trigger.

Stored Procedures

Stored routines (procedures and functions) are supported in MySQL 5.0. A stored routine or stored procedures are the set of SQL statements that can be stored in the server. Once this has been done, You don’t need to keep re-issuing the individual statements. Instead, you can refer to the stored routine.

Stored routines require the proc table in the mysql database. This table is created during the MySQL 5.0 installation procedure. Once it is installed, users can refer back to any statements stored in the server without having to reissue again with this ability in MySQL 5.0.

Views

In database functionality, the views consist of accessible stored query as a composed virtual table of the result set of queries. And, it is not like some ordinary tables in relational databases, as views do not form the physical schema part.

Views that also include updatable views are available in MySQL Server 5.0. Views are stored queries that when invoked produce a result set. Here, in MySQL 5.0, the views act as a virtual table. You will find this useful for some queries.

Data Dictionary

Data dictionary, as you all may have known, is a centralized repository of information about data such as meaning, relationships to other data, origin, usage, and format. It is also recognized as meta data – the data of the data.

And as you know, this is one of the new additional features in MySQL 5.0 that contains document describing a database or collection of databases that you can access. Wonderful right.

Well, with these four additional features, you will find MySQL 5.0 as even more amazing database server that you  feel hard to resist or choose the other database servers.

It is no longer popular to use .NET framework 2.0. The time has come to use the latest version of .NET framework, the 3.5 version. Released in 2007, it offers many new great features compared to the previous versions, which are really sought after by developers.

Deep integration of Language Integrated Query

Language Integrated Query (LINQ) is the component that adds native data querying capabilities to .NET languages in Microsoft .NET framework 3.5. This is the first new feature you must be looking for. Using this feature, you will be able to write codes in LINQ-enabled languages to filter, specify, and create some types of SQL data projections, collections, XML, and DataSets with the same syntax.

LINQ also allows Visual Basic and C# (new language features in .NET 3.5) developers to access data from XML and relational databases in much simpler and faster way to code with less error and easier to maintain or debug.

.NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET, AJAX

As everybody knows, ASP.NET AJAX offers you the ability to create quick, efficient, interactive, and highly personalized web experiences workable in all the most popular web browsers.  Unfortunately, earlier, ASP.NET AJAX should be a separate download installed on the top of ASP.NET 2.0.

However, with the beginning era of .NET Framework 3.5 release, all of these features are built-in within ASP.NET, which saves much of your time as there is no need anymore to download and install ASP.NET AJAX separately in application development.

The ASP.NET AJAX version built in .NET 3.5 provides a number of nice improvements  too- including support for using UpdatePanels with WebParts, WCF based JSON end-points, the ASP.NET Profile, Role and Login Application Services using JavaScript, performance improvements, and also fixes for bugs.

Full Support for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008

As the latest release of Microsoft’s best developer product, Visual Studio 2008 is there to provide many new great important features to help most developers to access data. Hand in hand with .NET framework 3.5, Visual studio 2008 complete .net with some .NET improvements – including Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), updated to support the growing popularity of REpresentational State Transfer (REST) much better.

The .NET framework 3.5 itself offers full support for Visual Studio 2008 like Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows CardSpace including the new workflow-enabled services technology.

Well, considering there are so many outstanding new features from the new .NET framework 3.5, who will not look for it? Even I , myself, find it so wonderful after knowing the features. So, let’s get ourselves to use it for better result.

Blade Server – thin, fast, and power plus space saving. That is how we can describe about this popular brand new server. Yes, blade server has become more and more famous with its pluses as described in my first sentence additionally with other great features it offers.

Cooling Capability
The first great thing about blade server is that it has cooling capability, which is actually really needed for blade server as it is requiring higher attention in this matter. During operation, electrical and mechanical components will usually produce heat.

However, with blade servers, its enclosures reduce heat by using fans. Blade is actually designed to produce less heat. But still, you need to ensure that the room temperature is cold (air-conditioned) as if it gets too hot, there will be automatic shut down.

Rack Based and High Density

Besides its cooling capability with its fan, blade server is also rack-based, meaning that you won’t spend too much space for servers. Being rack based, it can include up to 60 servers in the rack. So it is really space saving. And as you may have known, blade enclosure itself can hold multiple blade servers.

A blade server is sometimes described as server with high-density. Usually used in servers clustering, it is able to do any single task like sharing files, serving and caching web pages, encrypting the SSL of Web communication, trans-coding web page contents for smaller display, or even streaming audio and videos.

Less Cables, Less Structure Maintenance, More Availability Concentration
This must what you’ve been searching for, having less downtime. How? Well, blade servers allow more processing power in less rack space, simplifying cables and reducing power consumption.

When you decide to switch into using blade servers, you can reduce up to 85% reduction in cables for blade installations over the regular tower servers. With less cables, administrators can concentrate more on ensuring higher availability rather than spend time managing the infrastructure.

Networking Ability
Besides, blade server is also great for networking. Each blade server mostly has one or two local ATA or SCSI drives. And when it’s not enough yet,  blade servers can connect to a facilitated storage pool – Network Attached Storage (NAS), Fiber Channel, or iSCSI Storage Area Network (SAN) for additional storage.

So, as you’ve read, the benefits of using blade servers is not only the ability of it to consolidate placing tens of servers in a single chassis, but also additionally from the other advantages including the ability to associate with other resources (like storage and networking equipment), which is manageable through single interface.

March is near and St. Patrick’s day’s around. Well, who doesn’t know about that famous Irish day? Everybody’s Irish on this day. Everybody goes green on March 17. It is the national Irish holiday to memorize one of the patron saints of Ireland, St. Patrick. However, besides those huge celebration, what more have you known about this famous Irish day, which has been celebrated by many western countries all over the world, either Irish or non-Irish?

Something You Might Need to Know about St Patrick

St. Patrick was a patron saint known for converting the Gaelic Irish, who were mostly Pagans, to Christianity and for driving snakes from Ireland. And as you have known, St. Patrick was quite successful at converting. Through active preaching, he made important converts even among the royal families. And now, he was remembered and hugely celebrated throughout the world on March 17.

But Why March 17th?

It is because it was the day St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is believed that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with them their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of course, still in Ireland.

HOW HUGE IS THE CELEBRATION?

It was normally celebrated in Ireland. But as the time goes by, the famous St. Patrick celebration spreads all over the world, celebrated by either Irish and Non-Irish. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost all businesses close on March 17th and everybody is Irish on March 17th.

Wearing Green and Shamrocks

Green becomes the color of St. Patrick’s day as green is the color of spring, the color of shamrock, and the color connected with hope and nature. Green has also been a color used in the flags of several revolutionary groups in Ireland. Additionally, the shamrock  becomes the symbol of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day due to the natural abundance of clover plants in the country, but largely due to its strong association with Christianity.

Attending Parades

Parades are an important and the most waited activity in the St. Patrick’s day. In all western countries all over the world, starting from Ireland, Canada, Australia, US, England, and many others parade on St. Patrick’s Day. The parades are done by having Irish soldiers in the English military who do march through the city with their music. There is no enough fun without parades! So, every country that celebrates St. Patrick’s day will have great parades for the people to attend.

Cooking Irish Recipes

What’s Paddy’s day (a nickname for St. Patrick’s day) without Irish recipes to add more joy to it. And don’t worry! There is a wide range of Irish recipes for St. Patrick’s day for you to enjoy with your loved ones, either family and friends. Ajax describes a large group of web technologies used to implement  web applications to communicate with the server in the background without any interference to the the page current state. But more than considering the description only, do you know that it offers you benefits that are hard to reject? Have you realized what makes AJAX so special?

Well, first of many pluses, AJAX has four basis of web standards and you’ll have no worries as they are well defined and supported by all major browsers. Using AJAX, web masters are able to create better, faster, and more user-friendly web applications. The four based web standards are JavaScript, XML, HTML, and CSS. Besides it is based on four web standards, Ajax also offers you with three faster capabilities. Check these out!

Connection

This must be something everybody’s looking for, faster connection. And yes it is. With AJAX, no necessity to connect the web page to server everytime. AJAX saves time for the interaction between web pages and server to improve the speed and functionality.

It also allows web page to request for smaller bits of information rather than request for the whole pages  to reload repeatedly. Surely, it results on speed increase as well. AJAX technology is based more to web browsers than to web server. Using this, you will not worry about connection and speed.

Updates

Updates are always important and that’s another stuff AJAX helps you. Whenever you’d like to update your website database, AJAX provides you with a unique feature to reduce time consumption. How? Honestly, other web languages will require you to update the database entirely everytime contents updates are necessary to be done.

However, with AJAX, you just need to spend time only on the contents updates that are required to be done. It sounds impossible but trust me that AJAX is able to select the contents that requires any updates only. It allows users to have easier process when they would like to update their websites.

Response

Another thing you should know and proud of Ajax is that it is capable to allow faster responses to any inputs even when changes are not done in the server. It responds quickly to inputs, which is definitely more responsive, although the application itself has not changed on the server side.

And what is unique about AJAX is it has the ability to reload section of pages individually without any difficulty. This is a user friendly advantage that users may benefit from. This benefit also enables users to get faster functioning of the websites.

So briefly, have you realized what makes AJAX so special by now? I am sure you have…
